Hi videomakers i recently discovered i felt a different kind of high when taking videos. I made my sister's birthday AVP MTV style ala masterjasonmagbanua (my inspiration wee) last december. and it turned out well. So my mom encouraged me to pursue videography and she offered to buy me my very first videocam. how cool eh?
But the prob is, i really don't know what to buy, you guys, i thought, would be the best people to ask coz you guys have been doing this for a long time now if im not mistaken. What camcorder to buy, this is my prob. Somebody help me.. please? |

It really depends on how serious you are in the art and business hehe. anyways there are a lot of camcorder that is coming out, really very nice cam and you really cant go wrong with those. it really depends on how you wish to operate them. also depends on your budget.
heres my list
low budget cam.
HFS100
HFs10
HF100
Sony XR500
XR520.
HV20
HV40
Prosumer cam
HMC150
HMC40
HMC70
FX1000
FX1
FX7
Some good camera in the past but you can acquire a second hand unit
DVX100B
Sony VX2100
Sony PD170
also if you can consider DSLR try these:
7D
5D
GH1
D500
D90
D300s
Try to google those mentioned above coz you are the one who can really decide on what cam you really want.
Whats best for me might not be the best for you. _________________ Panasonic HMC 150 x 3 /Canon 7D/ HFS10/ Edirol 4/ D90 X 2/ Intel i7/ Grassvalley Edius 5.5 / Sony HVR M15P Deck. |

MTS, I agree with your list. Those are my list too.
They are all good cameras for most situations. For events though. I would drop the FX1 and FX7. By today's standard, their low light capabilities aren't up to par anymore. However, for other things, they are good choices as well.
I would go for HD or HDV if it were possible. That is not just the future. It is now. Go tapeless if possible.
To the OP, what's your budget? _________________ -- Caterpillar -- |

For 50-60k budget, you can get any of the ff:
HV20 - HV30
Panasonic GS series
Or VDSLRs such as
500D
D5000
D90
The video DSLRs are great for lowlight and you can get better lenses as well as your creativity grows. Plus, you get that cinematic feel of having thin bokeh or background blurring. Downside is that you'll need to manual focus on them which I think will only serve to hone your skills.
Plus, you'll get a good photo camera for your photo needs. Diba, complete coverage package na! _________________ ~

If it's about Canon 7D vs D90, then the 7D wins hands down but it's pricey compared to the D90. Nikon doesn't have a clue yet about HD video hehe (I did own a D90)
The 500d may be an ok starter or better, the 550d which is a mini 7d. _________________ ~
